Overtone: Tuner and Metronome

Sound better every session.

Overtone brings a tuner, metronome and drone together in one app for 22 instruments, plus sight-reading, theory and tools for teachers. It's powerful enough for professionals and simple enough for your first lesson. Pick your instrument once and everything is set up for you.

TUNER • Fast, steady chromatic tuner that shows exactly how sharp or flat you are • Strings mode for guitar, violin, cello, ukulele and more • Equal, just, Pythagorean or your own custom temperament, with any A4 reference

METRONOME • From a simple click to odd meters, accents and whole sequences • Mixed meters are easy to build: no more fighting the app • Save presets, control it from your Apple Watch, and see the beat on your Lock Screen • Sync tempo with other apps and devices through Ableton Link

DRONE AND SOUND • Play against a drone or chord in real instrument sounds until in tune feels natural • Hear any note in any temperament, exactly in tune

PLAY IN TUNE WITHOUT GUESSING • Watch your pitch as you play: green in tune, amber close, red off • Record a take and get a clear report: how in tune it was and which notes need work

SIGHT-READING • New melodies every time, written for your instrument and graded by level • Overtone listens as you play and marks each note for pitch, timing and length

THEORY AND EAR TRAINING • Drills for notes, key signatures, intervals, chords and scales • Go beyond 12 notes: tune and train in any equal temperament when you're ready

FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS • Set assignments as a link or QR code: practice time, exercises, theory drills or a sight-reading test • Made for band directors and private teachers, with no accounts to create • Students get their own dashboard; teachers get a gradebook • Practice reports a teacher can verify, sealed so they can't be faked

SHEET MUSIC • Keep your PDF scores in one library • Practise with the tuner and metronome right on top of your music • Turn pages with a Bluetooth pedal and mark up your parts

MAKE PRACTICE A HABIT • Daily goals, practice rings, streaks and levels • Home Screen widgets show your progress at a glance • A recap of your year in practice every December

MADE FOR EVERY SCREEN • Dark, light or follow your system • Layouts built for iPad, portrait and landscape
