Dockcut is a macOS utility that maps keyboard shortcuts, such as Option plus a number, to the apps in your Dock in their current order. It is for Mac users who want quick access to pinned apps without maintaining a separate list. It stands out in that moving an app in the Dock moves its shortcut too, and it needs no Accessibility permission.

Dockcut turns your Dock into a set of keyboard shortcuts. ⌥1 opens the first app in your Dock, ⌥2 the second, all the way to ⌥0 for the tenth. ⌥` opens Finder.

THE ORDER IS THE SETTING There is no list of shortcuts to maintain. Drag an app to a new spot in your Dock and its shortcut moves with it. Pin a new app and it gets a number too.

ONE KEY, ANY STATE Whether the app is closed, hidden, minimized, or buried behind other windows, its shortcut brings it to the front — and opens a new window if it has none.

MAKE IT YOURS • Choose your modifier: ⌥, ⌃, ⌘, ⇧, or any combination. • Give apps that aren't in your Dock a shortcut of their own. • A small on-screen hint confirms each switch. Turn it off, or set how long it stays. • Lives in the menu bar, or hide the icon completely. Launch at login if you like.

LIGHT AND PRIVATE Dockcut is under 1 MB and native to Apple silicon. It needs no Accessibility permission and cannot connect to the internet. It reads which apps are pinned to your Dock, and nothing else.

Requires macOS 14 or later on a Mac with Apple silicon.
