Focalog

Focalog is a fast, private way to record classroom on-task / off-task observations. It's built for school social workers, school psychologists, behavior specialists, and special education teams.

A haptic buzz marks every interval, on your iPhone or on your Apple Watch, so your eyes stay on the student instead of the screen. Tap On or Off, and Focalog does the timing, the math, and the report.

OBSERVATION METHODS • Momentary time sampling, partial interval, and whole interval • Intervals from 15 to 60 seconds, sessions from 5 minutes to 2 hours • A grace window: a tap just after the buzz still counts for the interval that ended • Pause for interruptions; paused time isn't counted • Undo, and fill in missed intervals afterward

PEER COMPARISON • BOSS-style: observe a different peer every Nth interval, or every interval • Peer intervals are announced with a different buzz, color, and label • Peers are always anonymous and pooled, never named or stored

OFF-TASK DETAIL • Optionally tag motor, verbal, or passive off-task behavior, or your own categories • See the off-task breakdown for each session and over time

APPLE WATCH • Discreet wrist taps for every interval, with the wrist lowered • Start on the watch, or start on iPhone and hand off to the watch • Results are sent to your iPhone automatically, even if it was out of range

REPORTS • Target vs. peer percentages, the gap, a timeline, and the longest on-task stretch • A clean single-session PDF for IEP and FBA meetings, plus CSV export • Each student's chart shows baseline and intervention phases and a goal line, over months or years
