iDub: Live Translation

iDub helps you understand speech, videos, podcasts, books and text in 78 supported languages. Listen to translations or read live captions.

Choose your source: • Listen live — translate nearby speech, lectures and conversations through the microphone. • From apps — translate audio from supported apps while you listen to a video, podcast or lesson. • Audio / video files — open a recording from your files or photo library and follow the translation in iDub's player. • Conversation (Plus) — two people take turns speaking in their own languages and hear the translation. • Books and text — import PDF, TXT, DOCX, EPUB, FB2 or RTF documents, or paste text. Read translated text and listen to narration. PDFs need selectable text; scanned pages are not processed with OCR. Prepared book text and audio are saved on your device for reuse.

YOUR GEMINI API KEY All translation and narration require your own Google Gemini API key, including with iDub Plus. No iDub account is required. An internet connection is needed for new translations and audio generation.

FREE AND PLUS The free version includes 30 minutes per day, shared across audio from apps, live listening, audio/video files, and first-time listening in Books and text. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC. In Books and text, only actual time spent listening to previously unheard portions counts. Preparing audio, pauses, seeking and replaying heard portions do not use the allowance. At the limit, playback pauses before unheard audio; heard portions remain free to replay on later days. iDub Plus removes the iDub daily time limit and unlocks Conversation and full transcript export in supported modes. Plus is an optional auto-renewable subscription. Prices and billing periods are shown in the app before purchase. Manage or cancel your subscription in App Store settings; Restore purchases is available in iDub.

GOOGLE USAGE IS SEPARATE Plus does not include Gemini usage. Google's quotas and availability still apply. Any Google charges are separate and depend on your project and billing settings.

PRIVACY AND LIMITATIONS After you grant permission, selected audio or text and translation settings are sent directly to Google Gemini. Under unpaid Gemini terms, inputs and outputs may be used to improve Google products. Do not send confidential information to unpaid Gemini.

Only record or translate speech and content you are allowed to capture and share. Some apps and protected content block audio capture. Translation quality varies with noise, accents, overlapping speakers and network conditions.

Do not rely on automated translation for emergencies or safety-critical, medical or legal communication.
