En bref

Strike 1 2 3 is a health-fitness app for solo martial arts and boxing practice, or small group sessions. You enter movements, repetitions and delays, and the app announces each one aloud and counts you through the set. It stands out for adding slight randomness to the delays, so timing is less predictable for explosive drills.

À propos

This app is designed for solo training in martial arts and similar practices (eg boxing) or perhaps training in small groups. You enter the set of movements you want to train into the app (eg "middle punch" or "right front kick"), along with how many repititions you want to do for each movement and how long it should wait between each repitition. When you run that set of movements the app says them out aloud for you and counts you through them. You can also have other items in the list like callouts to rest, or to remind you of something (eg "check your posture").

It is designed to save you having to work from a printed list of movements (or one on your phone) that you have to keep looking at, and is a bit closer to what you get in some martial arts classes, where the instructor says the movement/ action you are to do and counts how many times you are to do it. It can also be used to call movements you are performing on a something like a punching bag, or to walk you through the steps of a new form (though in a timed manner).

The app allows you to edit workouts you created previously, to export them for safekeeping (and import them) and to change the built in Apple voice used in the app.

The delay that you set is modified slightly to make it a little bit random, so that the you don't get too used to a totally regular timing and so you can use it when training to move explosively to the audio cue.

The app can be used when hitting a bag but in testing I've found the timing of a swinging bag can be a problem. This would work better on something that doesn't swing (eg a bag tied to a ground weight, a freestanding training dummy or a wall mounted 'bag').

Please note that this app does not contain ready-made workouts other than a short demo workout. The app is designed for you to enter your own workout. Of course, you should seek mdeical advice before entering into any training. Also note that this app is designed to work in the English language.

No data is collected via the app. The only data stored in it are the workouts you create. They stay in the app on your device, and you control if you export them. They are never sent back to me.
