En bref

WMF & EMF Converter is a macOS utility for opening WMF and EMF metafiles, which Preview cannot display, with zoom, pan, and a switchable background for inspecting transparency. It also exports them to PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, GIF, HEIC, PDF, or SVG, with adjustable DPI. It works fully offline and stands out for its vector export options (PDF and SVG).

À propos

Open WMF and EMF metafiles on your Mac. It just works.

Preview on macOS cannot open WMF or EMF files — so when one arrives from an old document, Office clipart, or Windows software, you're stuck. WMF & EMF Converter fixes that: double-click to view, one click to convert.

VIEW

Supports WMF (standard and Placeable header) and EMF, including widely-used EMF+ (GDI+) records Smooth zooming, panning, fit-to-window and actual size Switchable background color to inspect transparent areas One file, one window — reopening a file brings its window to front; windows stay independent

CONVERT

Export raster formats: PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, GIF, HEIC Export vector formats: PDF and SVG — lossless at any scale, print-ready Choose your own DPI and background color; PNG keeps transparency, JPEG gets a clean white background

WORRY-FREE

Built in pure Swift from Microsoft's official format specifications — zero third-party dependencies Never crashes on malformed files: oversized or corrupted content is degraded gracefully, with clear diagnostics Double-click in Finder, Open With, or drag onto the Dock icon — it all works the way you expect Files you left open are restored on the next launch Fully offline. No data collection, no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription

Note: This app views and converts; it does not edit WMF/EMF files. A few rarely-used EMF+ records are rendered approximately and clearly flagged.

Metafiles from the Windows world, finally at home on your Mac.
