BeanRitual is an iPhone app for home espresso makers that keeps track of the settings that worked for each coffee bag. You photograph a label, log each shot's dose, grind, time and yield with a taste note, and star the best one for next time. Coffees are grouped by roaster on one searchable shelf, and data stays on the device.

Every bag of coffee needs its own settings. You find the right grind after three or four espressos, it tastes great, and a month later, when you buy that coffee again, you've forgotten it.
BeanRitual remembers it for you.
1. Take a photo of your coffee bag The app reads the label: the roaster, the coffee's name, the roast date, where it comes from and its flavours. You check it and fix anything that's wrong.
2. Make an espresso and note it How much coffee went in, your grind setting, how long it ran and how much ended up in the cup. Slide your finger to set each number, and start the timer with the pump. Then say how it tasted: good, or not yet (sour, bitter, too fast, and a few more).
3. Star the one that tasted right Next time you open that bag in the app, its best espresso is waiting on its page, with the machine and grinder you used.
All your coffees sit on one shelf, grouped by roaster and easy to search.
There's no account to create. Your coffees and notes stay on your iPhone. The photo of your coffee bag is sent to read the label, and it isn't kept.
