Kitchen Margin

Know what goes into each cup or plate, and what changes when supplier prices rise.

Kitchen Margin helps independent café, restaurant, bakery and bar owners calculate ingredient and packaging costs. Available in English, Korean and Traditional Chinese.

START WITH ONE MENU ITEM Enter the size and price of a purchased pack, then the quantity needed for one serving. Include cups and lids when they apply. Manual costing, local CSV/TSV imports, reports and backup exports are free. Use your own supplier prices; templates are editable starting points.

SEE WHAT CHANGED Home brings together saved cost changes and items above your cost target with confirmed selling-price tax treatment. Trace a cost change through purchase price, quantity per serving and retained source evidence. Review your selling price without changing a POS or printed menu.

IMPORT WITHOUT STARTING AGAIN Import ingredient packs and prices from a file or pasted table. Reuse confirmed column mappings and explicitly match differently named rows to existing ingredients. Review the proposed changes before saving. Importing a price list does not create a purchase record.

KEEP REPORTS TOGETHER Sales & purchases, Item sales, Menu pricing, Ingredient prices and Measured waste are accessible from Home. Reports explain missing evidence and link to the records for that month. Purchases are not the same as ingredients consumed, and recorded waste is not total waste.

TRY A FINISHED EXAMPLE Explore a UK café in GBP or a Taiwan café in TWD, alongside Australian, coffee/bar and restaurant examples. See calculated costs and saved price changes immediately. Recipes, costs and tax assumptions are illustrative, not venue accounts or endorsements. Loading an example saves a complete local backup before replacing your kitchen.

PURCHASE TAX AND SELLING PRICES Set your business country and purchase-tax rate, then separately specify whether purchase tax is recoverable. Each invoice price retains its chosen treatment and rate. Mixed invoices can contain zero-tax and taxable lines. Older prices are kept as entered until clarified. This is recipe costing, not tax advice or tax filing.

OPTIONAL MONTHLY CAPTURE Capture reads invoices, sales reports and recipe cards from photos or supported documents on your device. Check recognised dates, quantities, packs, prices and totals against the retained source before saving. Routine repeat-invoice choices can be suggested; changed or conflicting details need review.

Capture is an optional auto-renewing one-month subscription at the local price shown by Apple before purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation or after an eligible introductory offer. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel it in Apple subscription settings. Expiry preserves your library and saved or unfinished reviews.

No app account is required. Your records stay on your device unless you export them or include them in device backups. No developer cloud sync or automatic backup service is included. Item costs exclude wages, rent, overheads and unrecorded waste; they do not measure net business profit.
