Shirleylab

Shirleylab is a family science game for curious kids and their grown-ups, with three unique features:

1. Learn by guessing. Every experiment starts with a question: what do you think will happen? Kids make a prediction, see the result, and find out why. Hundreds of fact cards, most based on trusted sources such as NASA, NOAA and NIH, and rewritten for children. 2. Complete privacy. No data collection from us. Your lab stays in your own iCloud, and nothing comes to the developer. No account and no sign-in. We don't even know who subscribes. 3. No advertisements forever. After the free trial, one Lab Pass subscription unlocks everything, with no other purchases in the app. Sparks come only from doing science.

A storm has scattered Professor Pony's Grand Notebook across the treehouse lab. Each experiment brings a page back, and each full chapter rebuilds a floor of the lab.

PLAY TOGETHER • Pass the device: one tap on a name tag chooses who guesses and who reads the question out loud • Everyone picks their character, Professor Pony or May the chicken • "Read it to me" reads cards aloud for children who are still learning to read • Each player has their own sparks, hats and record to compare, with no streaks

SUBJECTS AND ROOMS Physics, chemistry, space, the human body, Earth science, life science, weather and climate, engineering and technology, computer science, the environment and the history of stories and writing. The subjects share rooms in the treehouse, and cards are marked for ages 5+, 8+ or 11+.

REAL SCIENCE, CLEARLY SOURCED Every fact card names its source and licence, or is marked as an original Shirleylab lesson. Most come from US public science agencies such as NASA, NOAA, NIH, NIST and USGS. Optional "Try it at home" activities are meant to be done with a grown-up.

SPARKS AND SOUVENIRS Collect sparks for trying experiments, then swap them in May's shop for a graduation cap, a chef hat, a space helmet, lab pets and treehouse decorations. Try activities at home to turn cards golden.

MADE FOR FAMILIES • A grown-up check protects purchases, links that leave the app and sharing • Grown-ups can set lab hours • Not sure? After the grown-up check, share the question with your own AI app. Shirleylab never calls an AI service or sees the question. • Choose the music: our own lab theme or classics by Mozart, Beethoven and Grieg. Both can be switched off. Reduce Motion and larger text are supported.

YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS Progress is saved on your device and synced through your private iCloud to your iPhone, iPad and Mac. There is no developer server, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.

FREE TRIAL AND SUBSCRIPTION Everything is free for the first 14 days, with no payment and nothing to cancel. After that, a grown-up can choose a yearly or monthly plan through Apple. One plan covers every player in your lab, on the devices that use your Apple Account. Without a plan the lab rests: experiments pause, nothing is deleted, the pages your family found stay readable, and Learn pages not yet found are locked.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings.
