Kotobita

Kotobita is a word game for learning Japanese, made for Spanish speakers (the interface and explanations are in Spanish). Each word is shown with its meaning in Spanish; you type its reading in kana. When you get it right, a card opens: kanji, reading, romaji, an example sentence in Japanese and Spanish, and spoken pronunciation.

You never have to write kanji: the answer is always the reading, as in the best methods. No Japanese keyboard needed.

Three input modes: • Choices: pick the right reading out of four (great for starting out). • Grid: guess the word kana by kana on a gojūon keyboard, with row, column and dakuten hints (た ↔ だ). • Expert: type romaji on the regular keyboard and it turns into hiragana as you go.
