Songwriting by Clay and Kelsy is the missing middle: quick as a memo, not quite a DAW. Stack up to 12 layers with full effects, create new chords and rhythms in the helper tool. Write your lyrics with our in-app rhyming.

CATCH THE SPARK Record your idea and it will automatically loop, or import an MP3 to get started. Keep recording new layers, and stack them together for more control over your mix. • Pick a tempo, a time signature, and your bars. Or go Endless and just hit record. • Make room for the harmonies. Every layer has its own waveform, volume, mute, and FX. • Use any headphones, wired or Bluetooth. The app measures the delay and remembers your gear, so the layers land in time. • With your Apple Watch, you can get that first take, and then it’s waiting on your phone to finish. A metronome, tuner & pitch pipe, too. • Start a recording from your Lock Screen, a widget or Siri.

CHORDS, DRUMS AND EFFECTS Chord Helper: pick a key and one of nine sampled instruments, tap in your chords, and choose how they’re played, with Songwriter, Latin or Indian rhythms. Tap Vary until it feels right. It lands as a layer, in time with the rest. Rhythm Helper: drums under your loop, from rock, Latin and electronic to real tabla thekas, on five special kits. Effects on any take: Vocal Tune, Compressor, Vocal Doubler, Chorus, Reverb, Delay and Distortion.

FIND THE WORDS Write your lyrics and see your rhymes. As you type, rhymes find each other and take a color. Stuck on a line? Our built-in rhyming dictionary works in English, Spanish and Spanglish. And if you’re getting serious, chords go right over the words. Letters or Roman numerals. Whichever way you write.

SHARE YOUR IDEA Export a mixed master, individual stems, or a beautifully set lyrics-and-chords sheet. Collaborate: invite a friend into a song, and their layers arrive in your part. When it’s time to play it, Perform puts your words up big like a teleprompter, with the ability to play your entire set list.
