Estimate: MDMP Planner

Estimate is a pocket planner for the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) and the Combat Estimate's Seven Questions. Work a mission step by step, with the right tool at each stage and the doctrine reference beside it.

PLAN THE WAY STAFF SCHOOL TEACHES IT • Seven-step MDMP, from Receipt of Mission to Orders Production • The Combat Estimate's Seven Questions, the commander-led alternative • Guidance and purpose for every step, with a full reference library

TOOLS AT EVERY STEP • Restated mission builder (who, what, when, where, why) • Specified, implied and essential task analysis • Timeline and reverse planning: enter the planning start and H-Hour and it works the 1/3 : 2/3 rule, the "issue orders NLT" time, and a backwards-planned schedule (WARNORD, rehearsal, LD) • JIPOE collection plan: HVTs, PIRs and a PIR, indicator, NAI, asset and timing matrix • COA development: statement, main effort, a phased scheme of manoeuvre and advantages/disadvantages • War-game: action, reaction and counteraction for each COA against the enemy's most likely and most dangerous courses • Weighted COA decision matrix with a 1–3 or 1–5 scale, optional per-phase comparison, and honest near-tie handling that leaves a too-close call to the commander • Decision support matrix: decision point, trigger, CCIR and action • Inject log and FRAGO branching: re-plan a copy without losing the original
