Dlaczego tak przewidujemy: The value is clear: it hands your Mac's meeting audio to your iPhone, solving the poor-microphone problem in shared rooms.

W skrócie

Shoulder Surf Companion is a Mac menu bar app that sends meeting audio playing on the Mac to the Shoulder Surf app on an iPhone over the local network. It is for people who run meetings on a headset or in a shared room, where the phone's microphone may not pick up the call. One notable point is that audio goes only to the user's own iPhone and is not sent to the developer's servers.

O aplikacji

Shoulder Surf Companion is the companion app for Shoulder Surf on iPhone.

It lives in your menu bar and picks up the meeting audio already playing on your Mac, then sends it to Shoulder Surf on your iPhone over your local network. Your phone keeps doing what it does: transcribing, summarizing, and answering questions while the meeting is still going.

Why you would want it: the phone's microphone is listening to a room. On a headset, in an open office, or at a shared desk, there may be nothing in the room to hear. Your Mac already has the call, so this hands it over directly.

HOW IT WORKS - Install it, and it appears in your menu bar. It has no Dock icon: it lives in the menu bar. - Your iPhone finds it automatically if both are on the same Apple Account, through iCloud Keychain. - On another Apple Account, pair once with a 6-digit code. - Start a meeting on your iPhone the way you always do and pick your Mac as the way to listen. - The menu bar shows what it is doing: waiting, connected, or streaming.

WHAT IT CAPTURES - The meeting audio playing on your Mac. - Your own voice through the Mac's microphone, as a separate track. - A preview of the Mac screen you pick on your iPhone, refreshed every few seconds and shown only on your iPhone, never saved. - A full screenshot each time you tap to capture.

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS - While a meeting records, Control-Option-1 through 9 ask your iPhone your Quick Prompts, in order, from any app on the Mac. - Change the keys in the menu under Keyboard shortcuts.

PRIVACY - The audio goes to your own iPhone over your own network. It does not go to our servers. - Nothing is recorded on the Mac. - It sends usage events to our server: when it starts, when it pairs, and when a meeting starts and stops, with an install ID and the app and macOS versions. Never your name, your email, or anything said in a meeting. - macOS asks for Screen Recording permission, which is the only way an app can capture the audio playing on your computer. The companion also uses it for the screen previews and screenshots you ask for on your iPhone. Everything goes only to your own iPhone, and the menu bar icon is visible the whole time the companion is running.

WHAT YOU NEED - Shoulder Surf on your iPhone, from the App Store. - macOS 15 or later. - Both devices on the same network.
