Silex - Keyboard sound

Silex makes every keystroke on your Mac sound like a real mechanical keyboard.

It lives quietly in your menu bar and plays a satisfying sound each time you press a key — with no lag, no windows and nothing to set up.

SOUNDS THAT FEEL REAL Every key has its own voice, just like on a real keyboard. Type fast and the sound softens; slow down and each key lands with a full, deep thock. Space, Return, Delete and Shift sound bigger, and releasing a key has its own quieter click.

SEVEN SOUND PROFILES • Brown — recorded from a real tactile mechanical keyboard • Thock — deep and full, the classic mechanical sound • Cream — smooth, lubed linear switches • Pop — bright and crisp, marble-like • Clicky — blue switches: a click, then the bottom-out • Topre — soft, rounded dome • Aluminum — heavy aluminum case with a metallic ring

MORE THAN KEYS • Stereo: keys on the left sound from the left, keys on the right from the right • Mouse and trackpad clicks get their own sound • Turn keyboard and mouse sounds on or off separately • Volume slider right in the menu bar • Launch at login

PRIVATE BY DESIGN Silex needs Input Monitoring permission only to know that a key was pressed. It never records, stores or sends what you type. The app makes no network connections and collects no data.

One-time purchase. No subscription. Works on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 12 or later.
