Siphon: Audio Controller

Siphon puts a volume slider for every app in your menu bar.

macOS gives you one volume for everything. Siphon gives each app its own: turn a noisy browser tab down, boost a quiet video call up to 500%, or mute a game while your music keeps playing, without touching the rest.

EVERY APP, ITS OWN VOLUME • A slider for each app that plays sound, with a live level meter • 100% sits in the middle; the right half boosts quiet apps up to 200%, 300%, 400% or 500% • Mute any app with one click • Siphon remembers each app's volume • Save the volumes you like as presets and switch in one click, or let a preset follow your output, such as your headphones • With Siphon Pro, play each app on its own speakers or headphones: music on the speakers, a call in your headphones • The Mac's volume and output device are in the same menu

DURING CALLS (SIPHON PRO) • When an app starts using the microphone for a call, Siphon turns the other apps down and brings them back when it ends • Or apply one of your presets for the length of the call • Choose apps that are never turned down, and apps that aren’t calls

RECORD WHAT YOU HEAR • Record All saves everything you hear in one click • Or record a single app, even while it's muted • Include your microphone: your voice and what you hear in one file, and each side on its own if you like • AAC or Opus at the bit rate you choose, Apple Lossless or WAV, saved to your Music folder • Recent recordings are one click away; drag one into Finder or any app

MADE FOR THE MAC • Lives in the menu bar: no Dock icon, no windows in your way • Uses macOS's own audio capture: no drivers, no extensions, nothing else to install • A short guide sets up the one permission Siphon needs, System Audio Recording • One switch turns Siphon off, and every app plays as usual

SIPHON PRO Siphon is free: volume, mute, boost, levels, presets, output and recordings of up to a minute cost nothing. Siphon Pro is a one-time purchase that removes the recording limit, plays each app on its own speakers or headphones, turns other apps down during calls, and includes every Pro feature added later. No subscription.

Requires macOS 14.4 or later.
