Still Here: Safety Check-In

Still Here watches for the one thing that's easy to miss: a phone that has gone quiet.

Set a limit — an hour, a day, whatever suits you — and choose one person to tell. If your screen stays locked, or your phone can't be reached, for longer than that limit, Still Here first warns you on the phone. If you don't respond, it emails your contact with the facts: how long the phone has been inactive, and, if you've chosen to share it, where the phone last was.

There's nothing to do on a normal day. Using your phone is the check-in.

HOW IT WORKS • Your phone reports when it locks and unlocks; the server keeps the record. • Past your limit, you get a warning on the phone and time to respond. • Only then is your contact emailed, with a message they can act on. • Any time you unlock, everything resets.

BUILT FOR • People who live alone • Older parents, and the children who worry about them • Anyone who works, travels or exercises alone

YOU STAY IN CONTROL • Choose the limit, the warning period, and the contact. • Location in alerts is off unless you turn it on. • Night-time locks are treated as sleep, not silence. • Every check-in and alert is listed in the app, so you always know what was sent. • Send your contact a test alert so they know what to expect.

WHAT IT NEEDS • Notifications: this is how Still Here checks on your phone in the background and warns you before an alert. Almost all of them are silent. • Location, "Always", only if you want alerts to include where the phone last was.

Still Here is not an emergency service and cannot call for help itself. It tells a person you chose, so that they can.
