Anglican Church Calendar

The Anglican Church Calendar shows the Christian year as the 1928 Book of Common Prayer orders it, and tells you why each day is kept as it is.

Today sits at the top of a wheel of the whole year: the seasons, the months, and the red-letter days, in the colours of the Church. Tap a month to open its calendar. Tap a day to read its page.

EACH DAY'S PAGE • The day's name, in the words of the Kalendar • The Collect, with the Collects the rubrics add in Advent, Lent, Holy Week, and the octaves • The Epistle and Gospel in full, as the Prayer Book prints them • Why the day is kept so: each rule that decided it, quoted from the book with its page

THE RULES, FROM THE BOOK The calendar follows the Tables and Rules and the Tables of Precedence of the 1928 Prayer Book. When a feast falls on a Sunday or in Holy Week, the app keeps it or transfers it as the book directs, and shows you the rule it used. The rules are tested on every year from 1583 to 4099 and compared with published kalendars.

MADE TO BE READ • Cream paper, rubric red, and the liturgical colours • Follows your Text Size setting, up to the largest accessibility sizes • Labels for VoiceOver throughout • iPhone and iPad. Works entirely offline. No account, no ads, no tracking.

The colours shown are the customary colours after the American Missal; the Prayer Book itself appoints none.
