Coin Finder: Value Checker

Coin Finder is a coin identifier and coin value checker that works from a photo. Photograph both sides of a coin and the coin scanner tells you what it is, where and when it was made, and what it may be worth.

Found an old coin in a drawer? Inherited a tin of coins? Wondering whether that 50p, old penny or commemorative coin is worth more than its face value? Scan it and find out.

IDENTIFY COINS BY PHOTO • Take a picture of the front and the back, or choose the photos from your library. • Get the coin's name, country and year, with a match score. • When the match is uncertain, Coin Finder says so and shows what else the coin could be. • Scan UK coins, British pre-decimal coins and old coins, as well as coins from India, Ireland, South Africa and the rest of the world, tokens and medals.

CHECK YOUR COIN VALUE • See an estimated value range in US dollars for each coin you scan. • Estimates take into account the coin, its date, its mint mark and the condition visible in your photos. • A realistic first answer to "what is my coin worth?" before you ask an expert.

COIN GRADING AND RARITY • An estimated grade on the scale collectors use, from Good to Mint State. • A rarity level, from common to very rare. • The known varieties and mint errors to look for on that type of coin, when there are any, so you know which rare coins and error coins deserve a closer look.

COIN DETAILS AND HISTORY • Details such as denomination, composition, mint, weight, diameter and edge. • The story behind the coin and its design, in plain language.

YOUR COIN COLLECTION • Save each coin with its photos, details and estimated value. • Watch the estimated total value of your coin collection add up. • Share a result with a tap. • Your collection stays on your iPhone.

WHY COIN FINDER • A coin identifier, a value estimate and a collection in one app. • Two photos are all it takes. No typing, no catalogue to search. • No account and no sign-up. • No ads. • Clear about what it knows: every result shows a match score, and every value is presented as an estimate.

WHO IT IS FOR • Coin collectors who want a coin checker in their pocket, from rare 50p coins to old British coins, and a record of every piece. • Anyone who inherited or found coins and wants to sort the ordinary from the interesting. • Beginners in coin collecting and numismatics who want to learn what they are holding.

TIPS FOR A BETTER SCAN • Place the coin on a plain, dark surface. • Use even light and avoid reflections. • Fill the frame and keep the coin sharp.

GOOD TO KNOW Coin Finder uses AI to analyse your photos. Identifications, values, grades and rarity levels are indicative estimates. They are not a professional appraisal or an authentication, and some coins cannot be identified from photos. For a valuable coin, ask a qualified numismatist or a professional grading service.
