Kort sagt

False Friends is an education app that drills French, Spanish and Italian words that look like English words but mean something else, such as "librairie" meaning bookshop. It offers 250 pairs per language, multiple-choice quizzes that explain why each lookalike is wrong, and four tiers that unlock as common traps are cleared. What stands out is that all progress stays on the device or in the user's own iCloud account, with no accounts, ads or analytics.

Om appen

Some words look exactly like ones you already know — and mean something else entirely. In French, "librairie" looks like "library" but means "bookshop". Those are false friends, and they are the mistakes that stick.

False Friends drills exactly those words.

WHAT'S INSIDE • 250 false friend pairs for each language: French, Spanish and Italian • Both directions — read the foreign word and answer in English, or the other way round • The real meaning, the lookalike it gets confused with, IPA pronunciation and example sentences • Tap a word to hear it spoken

QUIZZES THAT EXPLAIN THEMSELVES Short multiple-choice rounds where the trap is always one of the options. Answer, and you get a short explanation of why the lookalike is wrong — not just a red cross.

BUILT TO PROGRESS Words are grouped into four tiers, from the traps you meet every day to the genuinely subtle ones. Clear the common words to unlock the rest. Track your accuracy, your streak, and the words still worth reviewing.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. Your progress stays on your device and syncs through your own iCloud account.

Optional daily reminders keep the habit going. Works with VoiceOver. The interface is available in English, French, Spanish and Italian.
