Garum

Garum is a map of places that are there for a reason. Not a restaurant search engine, not a ranking: only bars, restaurants, cafés and cocktail bars that someone trustworthy stands behind get in, and each one shows why.

CLASSICS, ESTABLISHED AND NEW Three lists by age. Classics have been open for more than 25 years, established places between 3 and 25, and new ones less than 3, doing something different and doing it well. Places move from one list to the next by themselves as the years go by.

EVERY PLACE, WITH ITS WHY No stars, no scores. Each place carries specific reasons, like good produce, honest prices, treated like family or no posing, plus notes signed by the people who back it.

WHAT TO ORDER, WHEN TO GO Every place tells you what kind of place it is, the food, the price per person, when to go, whether to book and what to order. Filter the map by what you fancy, or by what fits right now.

EVERYTHING IS SIGNED Notes carry the signature of whoever writes them, and every backing its author's name, reasons and, if they like, a comment. Each place tells you who signs it, who proposed it and how many people back it.

PEOPLE WITH YOUR TASTE In Social you follow like-minded people, see what they have lately backed and proposed, and keep the three lists at hand. Your profile shows what you propose and back; your saved places are for your eyes only. And on the map, one tap leaves just the places of the people you follow.

COLLECTIONS Lists and itineraries with a note at every stop: make your own, follow the ones of people you trust and share them with a link, even with people who don't have Garum.

GARUM PRO Private collections, notices about new places in the areas you choose and places in your collections that close, widgets for your Home Screen and Lock Screen, the whole map and its pages without a connection, and colour themes. Garum Pro is a one-time purchase, shared with your family, and you can try it free for 30 days. Everything else stays free.

MISSING ONE? Search for it, check it in Apple Maps and propose it. It gets in when a Curator signs it or several trusted people back it. Not even in Apple Maps? Tell us.

NO SMALL PRINT Looking at the map is free and asks for nothing. To see each place's why and to contribute, you sign in with Apple: you appear with the name you share with Apple, never your email. No ads, no analytics, and no place can pay to be on the map: no featured spots, no sponsorships. Your saved places sync with iCloud and your location never leaves your iPhone, except for an approximate area if you turn on Garum Pro alerts for «My location».
