Mimi: Learn Japanese

LEARN JAPANESE THE WAY YOU ALREADY WATCH VIDEOS: BY SCROLLING REAL CLIPS

Flashcard decks and grammar drills teach you rules about Japanese. Mimi teaches you Japanese itself. Real anime, vlogs, cooking, news, travel, kids' shows, gaming and business, cut into short clips. Watching every clip is free.

MIMI PRO (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED): the live transcript that follows every word as it is spoken, the English translation, tap-a-word meanings, saved words and flashcard practice need Mimi Pro, an auto-renewing subscription, yearly or monthly. Features marked (Mimi Pro) below are part of it.

A student working toward the JLPT, a traveller getting ready for Japan, an anime fan tired of reading subtitles, a busy professional with ten minutes on a train: Mimi fits into the scrolling you already do.

WHY MIMI? ► Learn naturally. Every clip is a real video, not a lesson script. You hear Japanese the way people speak it, not the way a textbook writes it. ► Always at your level. Clips are matched to what you already understand, about 85 to 90 percent, by JLPT level from N5 to N1. Hard enough to stretch you, never so hard that you give up. ► Tap to translate (Mimi Pro). Tap any word for its reading and meaning without leaving the clip. ► Grow your vocabulary (Mimi Pro). Save the words and phrases you actually heard and review them as flashcards made from the clips themselves. ► Bite sized. Short clips, a daily streak, nothing to schedule.

WHO IS MIMI FOR? Students build listening comprehension alongside classroom Japanese, at their own JLPT level. Travellers get their ear ready for how Japanese actually sounds before they land. Anime and manga fans understand more of what they already watch, without waiting for subtitles. Busy adults get a full session out of ten minutes on a commute. There is no lesson to finish.

FEATURES THAT MAKE MIMI UNIQUE ► Word by word highlight in Japanese and English (Mimi Pro). A green box follows the speech through the Japanese line and lights the matching English word at the same moment. ► Furigana, romaji and English under every word (Mimi Pro), so you are never stuck guessing a reading. ► Explore by world, show and level. Search anime, vlogs, cooking, news, travel, kids' shows, gaming and business by name, or browse everything at your own JLPT level. ► Real anime from official channels. Every clip streams from the rights holder's own channel, never a re-upload.

No ads. No accounts. Your saved words, streak and progress stay on your device.
