Music Box: Lullaby & Sleep

Remember your first music box? You turned the little brass key until it wouldn't turn any more, lifted the lid, and a ballerina began to turn while a handful of bright notes found a tune you somehow already knew. Then it slowed… and stopped. So you wound it again.

Music Box keeps all of that — the key, the lid, the gentle slowing down — and tucks it into your phone.

# DESIGNED FOR IPHONE DUO On iPhone Duo, opening your phone is lifting the lid. The music swells as it opens, grows soft and muffled as you close it halfway, and fades away when it shuts. On every other iPhone and on iPad, a tap on the lid does the same.

# A PROPER LITTLE MECHANISM • A brass cylinder, a steel comb and a velvet-lined lid with a small mirror • A full winding plays for about three minutes, then slows and comes to rest, like the real thing • Hold the key or the little governor to stop the cylinder; let go and it carries on • The click of the ratchet, the knock of the lid, and a faint resonance in your hand with every note

# A SONGBOOK THAT KEEPS GROWING • Lullabies — Brahms, Schubert, Rock-a-bye Baby • Children's Songs — Twinkle, Twinkle, Frère Jacques • Classical — Für Elise, Canon, Swan Lake, the Sugar Plum Fairy • Folk & Traditional — Greensleeves, Danny Boy, Jasmine Flower • Country & Western — Red River Valley, Home on the Range • Holidays — Happy Birthday, Silent Night, Auld Lang Syne

Switch to the Grand Movement and every tune gains a bass line and harmony, a warm wooden case and a stereo comb.

# WRITE YOUR OWN Punch holes in a paper strip, as real music boxes were once played, and hear your tune as you go — on a 15-note comb where every hole sounds in tune, or a 30-note comb with every sharp and flat. Or simply hum it, and Music Box turns your melody into holes on the strip. Your tunes sync through iCloud.

# GIVE A MUSIC BOX Turn your box into a short video — opening and playing, with your tune, your finish, the photo in your lid and your engraving — and send it to anyone, for a birthday, for Christmas, or for no reason at all.

# MAKE IT YOURS • Warm woods, glossy lacquers and blue-and-white porcelain • Velvet linings in deep, jewel-like colours • A porcelain figurine before the mirror, turning in time with the music • Your own photo in place of the mirror, and words engraved on the lid • Try any of them on the box before you unlock it

# AT BEDTIME Bedtime Mode keeps playing with the screen locked, then slows to a stop when your timer runs out. Pause or carry on from the Lock Screen, or add the widget to your Home Screen, Lock Screen or StandBy and tap play without opening the app.

# PRIVATE BY DESIGN No sign-in, no account, no analytics, no ads. Your tunes sync through your own iCloud — we never see them. Your lid photo stays on your device, and your humming is recognised on your iPhone. Read the full picture in our Privacy Policy.

# FREE TO START • A tune in full from every collection, and previews of the rest • The wind-up key and all the sounds and haptics • The walnut box with its original lining • Write or hum a tune of your own on the 15-note comb • Gift videos, with a small mark in the corner • Widgets and iCloud sync
