The Portuguese of Portugal This course teaches the Portuguese you will hear in Lisbon and Porto: its pronunciation, its tu and its você, o comboio and o pequeno-almoço, estou a falar instead of estou falando. It is written for Portugal from the first lesson, whether you are starting from zero or coming back to it after learning Brazilian Portuguese.

Say it out loud Speaking drills listen to what you say and check that it was the right word, in more than 70 of the lessons. The checking happens on your phone: nothing is recorded, uploaded or kept. It tells you which word it heard; it does not pretend to grade your accent.

Four steps to every word Read it, hear it, say it, recall it. Four new words at a time, and a word is not yours until it has passed all four. The exercises keep changing so the same word never comes back the same way twice, which is why ten exercises go by quickly and the fortieth lesson does not feel like the first.

Works anywhere, keeps nothing One-time payment: no subscription, no ads. Fully offline: the lessons, the dictionary and the speech checking all run on your phone, and the app does not request permission to use the internet at all.
