About

Blockwave is a 2048-style merge puzzle on a 7x7 board. You get pieces made of number blocks. Drag one onto the board, and if a block lands next to the same number, the two merge into one and double. 2 and 2 make 4, 4 and 4 make 8, and so on up to 2048 and past it. When a block reaches the goal number it explodes, clears the squares around it, and the goal doubles. The board changes into a new world each time that happens.

There is no timer and no energy meter. Nothing to wait for. It works with no internet.

The part that makes it a puzzle rather than a slot machine: you decide where the merge lands. Each piece has a ring on one of its blocks, and the merged result lands on the ringed square. Tap the piece to move the ring, then drag it into place. Put the same piece one square to the left and you might get nothing, or a chain of four merges that reaches the goal. Before you let go, the board shows you exactly which blocks will join and what number you will end up with, so you are never guessing.

Dropped a piece in the wrong spot? There is an undo button. You get four per game, the first one free, so it still matters where you put things.

There is also a level route, if you prefer a goal to chase. Some levels ask for a score with no move limit, some give you a set number of moves to blow up a particular block, and a few are built around clearing cracked tiles. Three stars each. Retrying costs nothing.

Each explosion carries you into another board theme, and the order shuffles every run, so you will not see them in the same sequence twice. Molten iron. A neon sign at night. The bottom of the ocean. A cherry tree in daylight. A page torn out of a sketchbook. Each has its own board, its own sounds and its own way of moving.

What Blockwave does not have: accounts, sign-in, chat, or anything to buy. It is supported by adverts.

Plays in English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Arabic.

I make Blockwave on my own, under the studio Lab 47, and I add updates and bug fixes as I finish them. If something is wrong, or you want something added, the support link goes straight to me.
