About

Cuewright is a subtitle editor for people who check their work by listening.

The timeline is the document Open an SRT, VTT, LRC or SMI file and the video or audio beside it comes with it. Lines are blocks on a waveform: drag to move, drag an edge to retime, drag empty space to make a new one, click anywhere to hear it. Split with S, merge with M, nudge a start or an end by 50 ms with ⌥← and ⌥→. Every edit is one step of undo, and a run of typing is one step too.

Cues without typing them Recognize speech on this Mac — no account, no upload, no per-minute cost — and the words are cut into lines at pauses and sentence ends. With no model downloaded there is a fast split by silence, which needs nothing at all.

A script you already have Paste the text of a talk, a chapter or a song and give it time codes from what was actually said. Or cut it into the lines one sentence at a time, at your own pace.

Sync that matches the ear Move every line together by an offset. Or give the right time for one line near the start and one near the end, and everything between is corrected on that line — an offset and a drift at once. Or scale by a factor, or by a frame-rate pair.

Reading speed, checked Characters per second, line length, line count, duration and the gap to the next line, each against the guideline for the language of the subtitle. Jump from one problem to the next, or let the app break the lines and extend the fast ones.

A second language Translate into a translation track with macOS's own on-device translator, or with your own key for Claude, Gemini or any OpenAI-compatible server — including one running on your own machine. Export the translation on its own or as a bilingual subtitle.

Interface in Korean, English, Japanese and traditional Chinese. Nothing leaves the Mac unless you ask: a speech model to download, or a translation you requested with your own key.
