In short

Frigedaeg is a granular instrument that plays grains cut from sound you record with the device or load from a file, with a test tone present at launch. Four XY pads shape grain position, length, envelope and scatter across seven modes, and a ring of slow cells can modulate the loop decks. Everything runs on the device with no accounts, network or analytics.

About

Frīgedæg has no sound source of its own. It plays grains cut from a recording, so everything you hear started as something you recorded or loaded.

Hold the record key and capture whatever is in front of you — a room, a voice, a radio, a string. Or load a file you already have. A test tone is loaded at launch, so it makes sound the moment it opens.

Four XY pads control where the grains land, how long they are, how they are enveloped, and how far they scatter. There are seven modes — FIXED, SCATTER, TOUCH, LFO, GATE, RIPPLE and LOOP — and each one changes what the four pads do, so the same recording behaves like a different instrument depending on the mode.

A ring of five slow cells passes a voltage around itself and can drive anything in the instrument, including the two loop decks, whose bookmarks, direction and speed are moved by gates rather than by hand. Nothing repeats exactly.

At the output: a stereo delay, reverb, an exit filter, and an EQ. Presets save the state of every panel.

Landscape only. Everything happens on the device: no accounts, no network, no analytics. Your recordings stay in the app and are never uploaded or shared. Headphones or a decent speaker recommended.
