Maggot - Clean the Pool

Meet Myathropa, a rat-tailed maggot living in a rain-filled tree hollow. Her job is to clean the water. Your job is to keep her alive while she does it.

Steer with one finger. Dive deep for the richest food, but don't forget to breathe: her long tail is a snorkel, and it has to reach the surface to refill her air. Grab rising air bubbles when you're running low, chain bites together for combo multipliers, and above all, don't cross your own body.

Every bite clears the murk around it. Clean 70% of the pool and the water turns bright and clear, bonus mode kicks in, and Myathropa leaves the water behind: she pupates, emerges as a hoverfly, and takes to the orchard to pollinate the fruit trees. Or skip the story and chase the high score.

A LITTLE REAL SCIENCE Rat-tailed maggots are the larvae of hoverflies. They really do live in water-filled tree holes and breathe through a telescopic tail. The adults are important pollinators of fruit trees and wildflowers, so the humble maggot of today is the orchard's helper tomorrow.
