About
SelfPub Cover Designer creates print-ready book covers for self-publishers – one design for paperback, hardcover, ebook and audiobook, ready for Amazon KDP, IngramSpark and other print-on-demand services.
DESIGN ONCE, EXPORT EVERY EDITION • Enter trim size, page count and paper: spine width, bleed and safe areas are calculated for you – or import the official cover template of your print service. • All editions share the front design; each one keeps its own back, spine and flaps. • Colored guides show bleed, safe area and folds while you work.
A REAL DESIGN TOOL • Text in any font installed on your Mac, with outline, shadow and glow. Shapes, pen and pencil, pictures and PDF graphics. • Pictures sit in frames: crop, mask and move them with the mouse. Remove picture backgrounds on your Mac (Pro). • Layers, groups, ruler guides, snapping – and anchors that keep your layout in place when the trim size changes. • Barcode from your ISBN, QR codes – for example to the review page of your book. • Up to 300 undo steps, plus snapshots you can go back to.
START FAST • The assistant builds a first cover in seven steps – with 8 free title styles and 36 Pro designs, grouped by genre. • More than 150 ready-made backgrounds for every genre, from fantasy to cookbook (Pro). • Import a finished cover as PDF or picture – the folds are detected automatically.
CHECK AND EXPORT • The check finds text in the bleed, blurry pictures, too much ink and more – before you upload. • The CMYK preview shows colors as they will print. • Print covers as PDF/X-1a in CMYK, the standard print services accept (Pro). • Ebook covers as JPEG, PNG or TIFF; square audiobook covers (Pro). • Export sets: every edition of your book in one click.
MOCKUPS • 3D mockups of paperback, hardcover with dust jacket, e-reader, tablet and audiobook player – for ads, your website and social media. With watermark in the free version, without in Pro.
MADE FOR THE MAC • No account, no upload, no tracking, no AI services – everything happens on your Mac. • Complete offline help, a short welcome tour and tips the first time you use a function. • In 15 languages.
FREE AND PRO Free: design every format, export ebook covers, mockups with watermark. Pro adds print exports for paperback and hardcover, audiobook export, 36 cover designs, more than 150 ready-made backgrounds, background removal, mockups without watermark and cover files to move a design to another Mac. Pro is a one-time purchase or a monthly or yearly subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage them in your App Store account settings.
