In short

Stillfield is a night and long-exposure camera for iPhone with Single, Interval and Overnight modes, saving each frame to Photos as it finishes. It suits planned night, aurora, meteor and light-trail shoots, and it keeps captured frames if a session is stopped. Version 1.1 adds auto-stop, a delayed start, a status strip and an optional Astro Alarm that uses moon, darkness and forecast data.

About

Stillfield is a simple night and long-exposure camera for iPhone, built around honest capture.

Three modes: - Single: one long exposure. - Interval: repeats exposures of 5 to 30 seconds, with a 3 second pause between frames. - Overnight: repeats longer exposures of 15 to 60 seconds (30 by default), with a 10 second pause between frames. Frames are stacked on your phone.

Each frame is saved as soon as it finishes, before the next one starts. Frames go to your Photos library. If Photos access is off, they stay in the Stillfield folder, which you can open in the Files app. Tap Stop at any time and the session ends right away, keeping what was captured.

New in 1.1: - Auto-stop for Interval and Overnight: end after a set time, at a clock time, or after a number of frames. - Delayed start: a 3, 5 or 10 second countdown before the first frame, so your hands are off the tripod. - Status strip while a session runs, showing battery level, phone temperature and a reminder that locking the phone ends the session. - Watch remote: with a paired Apple Watch, start or stop a session from your wrist and see the frame count. Stillfield needs to stay open on the iPhone. - Astro Alarm (off by default): reminders for major meteor shower peaks from a built-in calendar, with darkness estimated from twilight and moon position worked out on your phone. When forecast data is available, it also checks cloud cover from Apple Weather and can remind you about clear dark nights. Cloud cover is a forecast, not a promise of clear skies. If no forecast data comes back, Astro Alarm uses moon and darkness only.

Stillfield is made for planned shoots. Keep Stillfield open and your phone on power, and check on it now and then. Locking the phone or leaving the app ends the session; frames already saved stay saved.

Enhance is off by default, with the toggle right on the capture screen. When on, it applies a gentle brightness and shadow lift on this device. Stills stay as captured until you turn it on.

Capture and processing happen on your phone, and no account is needed. If you turn on Astro Alarm, your approximate location is used on the phone for darkness estimates and is sent to Apple Weather to get a cloud forecast. Made for planned night, aurora, meteor and light-trail shoots.

Honest night capture.
