In short

Traders of Venice is a strategy game about buying goods cheaply in one city and selling them dear in another, across ten cities and ten goods. Market prices react to each sale and recover over time, and the player builds up from a bag on foot to a fleet of ships, warehouses and automated trade routes. It is aimed at players who enjoy trading and planning, and it stands out for its travel events, which appear about one journey in seven.

About

Venice, fifty florins, and a market where salt is cheap. In Tunis they pay dearly for it. Buy low, travel far, sell dear, and build a Renaissance trading fortune in ships, warehouses and trade routes. No ads. No account. Plays offline.

Traders of Venice is a strategy game built on one old idea: every city has too much of one thing and too little of another. Ten cities, ten goods, and markets that react to what you do. The rest is your judgment.

BUY LOW, SELL DEAR • 10 cities: Venice, Florence, Genoa, Milan, Rome, Naples, Marseille, London, Alexandria and Tunis. Each has one good in abundance and one in short supply. • 10 goods: salt, pepper, indigo, cinnamon, frankincense, silk, myrrh, cloves, saffron and gold dust. • Markets move. Buy heavily and the price climbs. Flood a city and it falls. Leave a market alone for a few days and it recovers. • Fairs, gluts, shortages and embargoes come and go, city by city.

FROM A BAG TO A FLEET • Set out on foot, then buy bags, a horse, a wagon and three sizes of ship to carry more and travel faster. • Hire riders, drivers and captains to run automated trade routes that pay you every day. • An accountant shows your profit on every unit. A wagon driver gets your • Buy warehouses in any city, in three sizes. Give one a manager, a driver and a wagon, and you can stockpile goods there and sell them from anywhere. • Short of capital? The Medici Bank will lend it. The interest is charged daily.

ON THE ROAD AND AT SEA • 103 travel events: corsairs, a petty lord's toll, a wayward monk, a ship becalmed. Each is a choice, and each choice has consequences. • They are a rare surprise, about one journey in seven, not a constant interruption. You can turn them off if you prefer.

A SHORT RUN OR A LONG REIGN • Journey the World: runs of 30, 60 or 90 days, or Unlimited, with no time limit at all. • Challenge the World: 5 scenarios, unlocked in order. Sell everything at twice what you paid, or the run is over. Hold 1,000 of every good at once. Assemble a fleet of 28 large ships. • Challenge the Day: one daily challenge, the same for every player on that date, drawn from a pool of 36. Horses only. A strict cap on every sale. A mountain of debt and a fleet full of cinnamon to clear it with. Keep your streak alive.

LEARN BY TRADING • 4 tutorial levels teach the game by having you play it, from your first sale to running warehouses. • A 12-section manual is built in for when you want the numbers.

THINGS TO EARN • 32 achievements, with titles and badges, and Game Center achievement support. • 11 permanent upgrades, such as starting a run with a ship, a warehouse or a trade route. Earn each one through an achievement, or buy it as an in-app purchase. One bundle unlocks them all. The whole game is playable without buying anything.

MUSIC FOR EVERY CITY • Original, period-flavoured music, with a different set of tracks for each city, plus sound effects and haptics.

YOURS ALONE • Runs entirely on your device. No account. No ads. No tracking, and no data collected. • No internet connection needed to play. • For iPhone and iPad. English.

The salt is cheap in Venice this morning. Tunis is a long way off. Best get moving.
