Your Normal
Not claimedThe Health app collects plenty of numbers and leaves them to you
By Vladimir Stibr Janousek · Health and fitnessWhy we expect it: Your Normal turns raw Health data into plain guidance by comparing you against your own baseline, a thoughtful and clearly valuable idea.
About
The Health app collects plenty of numbers and leaves them to you. Your Normal reads them and says, in plain words, what each one means.
IT COMPARES YOU WITH YOU
For most values, how far you are from your own average matters more than any published norm. A resting heart rate of 58 means nothing until you know yours is usually 51. The app keeps a ninety-day personal baseline and judges what deserves attention against that.
IT SAYS WHEN IT DOES NOT KNOW
When there are not enough days for a reliable comparison, it says so instead of comparing. Values nothing measures in Health are hidden but not concealed: the app tells you how many there are.
IT ACCOUNTS FOR WHAT IS HAPPENING TO YOU
After surgery or during illness you can enter a restriction. The app then stops judging what you cannot influence anyway, such as fewer steps after ankle surgery. For those values the personal average is counted only from the date of the procedure, so you are not compared with a time when you could still walk.
HOW YOU FEEL, BESIDE THE NUMBERS
One tap logs how you feel. A watch measures heart rate, not how you feel, and where the numbers and your own sense disagree is often more useful than either on its own. The diary can be filled in up to fourteen days back.
ON YOUR WATCH
Apple Watch shows the readiness score and the values worth a look, and logs how you feel with one tap. The iPhone does the reading and sends the watch only a finished summary.
