AstroTarget

What is worth shooting with your smart telescope tonight? Astrotarget picks the best of 500 nebulae, galaxies and star clusters for your location, date and viewing direction – and tells you how to capture them.

MATCHED TO YOUR TELESCOPE Seestar, Dwarf, Vespera, Unistellar, Celestron Origin and more: 19 models with aperture, focal length, field of view, filters and exposure steps. For every target you get a recommendation for sub-exposure, gain, filter and total time – in EQ or alt-az mode, rounded to the steps your device offers. "Why this exposure?" shows what limits the time: tracking, sky brightness or a bright core.

BEST TARGETS FIRST Sorted by visibility, altitude, brightness and fit in the field of view. For each target: best time, altitude curve, best months, preview image, short description and Wikipedia link.

NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE Targets for both hemispheres, plus the season at your location.

SKY BRIGHTNESS, AUTOMATICALLY In Europe the Bortle class is estimated from satellite data, including the direction of the strongest light dome. You can change it by hand for each place.

WHAT'S INSIDE • 500 targets from Messier, NGC and IC, searchable by catalogue number, name or constellation • Choose viewing directions when trees or houses block part of the sky • Favourites for several observing sites • Glossary: EQ, alt-az, gain, dual-band, field rotation and more

HONEST, NOT POLISHED Recommendations are starting values, not manufacturer specifications. Estimated values are marked in the app.
