Under the Vegetable Patch

Bramble the mole is digging under the farmer's vegetable patch for grubs, roots and lost trinkets. A storm is coming, and every tunnel Bramble digs is a path for the rain.

DIG, ONE SWIPE AT A TIME The garden is shown in cross-section, 7 tiles wide and 40 rows deep. Each swipe is one move: dig into the soil next to the mole or crawl along an open tunnel. Dirt, clay, stone, gravel and brick each dig differently, and hard soil takes two swipes until your claws are strong enough.

PLAN AROUND THE RAIN The rain cloud counts down your moves. After every 6th move a shower pours into each tunnel open to the sky, and the water fills the deepest tunnels first and stays there. Hold your breath to swim through flooded tunnels, pack earth from your pouch into plugs to seal tunnel mouths, dig open gravel to drain the water, and break into the farmer's brick cellar to send the flood there for bonus points. Survive all 8 showers for a bonus, but if Bramble drowns, the trinkets found in that run are lost.

SCORE AND STARS Grubs, earthworms, beetles and glow-worms give points, every new row of depth adds more, and each run earns up to three stars. Every layer keeps its best score.

FURNISH BRAMBLE'S BURROW Find 16 lost trinkets, from a Brass Button to a Pocket Watch, and place them in the Parlour, Pantry, Bedroom and Workshop. Each finished room gives a lasting perk: a bigger earth pouch, more breath, more roots or a brighter headlamp.

UPGRADE IN THE CLAW SHOP Spend the roots you dig on Claws, Lung and Headlamp, five levels each. Stronger claws dig clay, stone and even brick in one swipe, a bigger lung lets you stay under water longer, and a brighter headlamp shows what lies in the rows below.

DIG DEEPER Earn stars to open four soil layers: Topsoil, Clay Bed, Old Roots and Flint Caves, each with its own soil, creatures and heavier rain. A new Daily Site every day pays double roots on its first run.
