Branchroom is a Mac workspace for small studio owners, operations coordinators and project leads preparing a reporting or responsibility change. Capture a named baseline, edit your proposal, then compare the two hierarchies and inspect exact changed fields.

A role can hold a title, person, team, responsibility, notes, seat status and one reporting parent. Changes to those fields appear as before/after values; direct-report counts follow the graph. Added and removed roles are included. The Chart, Compare, searchable Register and Coverage views use the same saved work.

Import a UTF-8 roster CSV with stable role IDs. Branchroom checks parent references, duplicate IDs and reporting cycles, and retains the exact imported bytes with a SHA-256 checksum. Export the proposed roster, changed fields or original CSV. A restorable JSON preserves the baseline, current roles, planning note and original source, and imports as a separate named copy.

A paginated landscape PDF includes the proposal overview, planning note, changed fields and complete baseline/proposal role registers, including full responsibilities and notes. The overview uses shortened labels; the registers retain the complete values.

Create, rename, duplicate and delete up to 20 local maps, each with up to 150 roles and 64 reporting levels. Edits save automatically. Undo Change can restore edits or deletions during the current session; keep a JSON backup before deleting work you need after quitting. A normal first launch has no maps. Example adds an explicitly fictional nine-role studio.

One purchase includes the full offline app. No account, subscription, ads, analytics, tracking or upload. Branchroom does not connect to an HR directory, sync collaborators, model multiple reporting parents or make staffing/employment decisions. Coverage lists recorded missing fields, not recommendations.

macOS 14 or later. Roster CSV up to 4 MB; JSON backup up to 20 MB. CSV IDs use letters, numbers, underscore or hyphen. Treat exported CSV fields as text in spreadsheet tools. The support page includes the exact CSV format and a fictional sample.
