Fog Keeper

Night falls over the bay, and the ships are coming in. You are the lighthouse keeper. Drag your finger across the sea to swing the lamp, and every ship caught in its beam turns for the harbour. Every ship left in the dark drifts with the current toward the reefs.

AIM THE BEAM The beam follows your finger from the lighthouse at the foot of the bay. Ships arrive from the top and both sides in ten waves, and the waves grow bigger as the night goes on, so you are always choosing whom to light next. A ship that docks scores its value: fishing dory, pleasure yacht, ferry, mail packet, coal steamer and more. Three wrecks on the rocks and the night is over. Hold out for 150 seconds until dawn.

FOG AND SQUALLS Fog banks drift across the bay and stop your beam at their edge, so ships behind them stay dark. Squalls push every hull sideways for a few seconds. Plan around them.

MIND THE OIL The lamp burns oil while it shines. Flip the lamp switch between Full beam, which reaches the whole bay, and Low beam, which reaches only a third of it but burns far less. Supply boats refill your oil when they dock. Run dry and the lamp goes dark until dawn. Every unit of oil left at dawn adds to your score.

CATCH THE SMUGGLERS Smuggler sloops sail without lights. Catch one in the beam and it flees straight along it, away from the lamp. Line up the lighthouse, the sloop and the Revenue net strung across the outer reef, and drive it in for a 300-point bonus. Leave a sloop unlit and it slips into the harbour and steals your oil.

THE WORKSHOP Every night pays coins. Spend them on a wider Lens, a bigger Oil Tank and Foghorn blasts that stop every drifting ship for a few seconds. Each upgrade has five levels.

THE LOGBOOK Fill eight pages, one for each ship type, from the humble dory to the smuggler sloop. Earn bronze, silver and gold stamps as you save more ships, collect them for coins, and complete the logbook to put a brass medal on your lighthouse door.

THE COASTLINE Earn up to three stars on each night and unlock four coasts: gentle Gull Bay, Ironteeth Reef with its many reefs and strong current, Whale Sound with thick fog and whalers, and icy Frostmouth with drifting ice floes and squalls all night. Each coast keeps its best score to beat.

THE NIGHTLY STORM A new squall-filled night on Gull Bay every day, with bonus coins the first time you reach dawn.
