Ibidem is a map of true stories about the ground under your feet.

Stand somewhere and find out what happened there. A thousand stories, at 896 places across 21 cities, each pinned to the exact spot it belongs to and told in a few hundred words — long enough to be worth knowing, short enough to read standing up. Every one carries a link to where it came from.

STAND WHERE IT HAPPENED Stories appear as you move, nearest first. Open one while you are actually there and the place stamps itself into your collection — reading from the sofa does not count. A figure walks the map beside you, and earns hats and characters from the places you have stood in.

A PET THAT TRAVELS FOR YOU Send it out in the morning. It comes home in the evening with a postcard from a city it visited, a true story from there, and sometimes a new friend.

LEAVE SOMETHING BEHIND Plant a flower for whoever passes to water. Light a lightboard with a few words. Bury a note nobody can read until it comes due — then whoever digs it up reads it, and can bury one back. Or throw a bottle that belongs to no place at all, for a stranger somewhere else to open.

THE MAP IS YOURS TO SET Day or night, or follow your phone. Show everything, only the stories, or only what people have left. The living layer can be turned off entirely.

WHAT IT DOES WITH WHERE YOU ARE Your location is used to tell you what is near you, and to check that you are really at a place before it stamps. Nothing you stand in is shared with anyone. Places you stand in and stories you save stay on your phone until you sign in, and signing in is only so they follow you to another one.
