It is aimed at people who shoot without GPS but have a track from the same outing. It never overwrites existing locations or changes capture times, and it stands out for keeping photos and tracks on the device with no account.

PhotoTrack is for people who take photographs with no GPS — a camera without a receiver, location off, airplane mode — and already have a track for the same outing. It also builds a GPX from photos that already have a location.

ADD LOCATIONS TO PHOTOS Scan a date range in Apple Photos. Import a GPX or FIT, record a walk on this phone, or use photos that already have GPS as evidence. PhotoTrack matches unlocated photos by time, shows you the result, and writes a location only after you confirm.

It never overwrites a photo that already has a location. It never changes capture times. It does not rewrite image files.

RECORD A TRACK Record a walk on this phone. Recording can continue if you lock the phone or open the camera. The track stays in the app until you delete it. Then add those locations to photos the same way as a file you imported.

CREATE GPX FROM PHOTOS Build a GPX from photos that already have a location — a track and waypoints. The file is a set of observations, not a continuous GPS recording.

PRIVACY Photos and tracks stay on this device. No account. PhotoTrack records GPS only while you press Record. The app may send anonymous usage events when a network is available (opens, writes, imports, exports, start or finish of a recording). Those events never include photos, coordinates, filenames, or capture times. Details are in Settings.
