Earwright

Par WOONG-JAE LEE · ÉducationPourquoi nous l'attendons : A thoughtful, privacy-first listening tool that turns files you already own into structured practice, with clear value for language learners.
En bref
Earwright is a listening practice app for media files you already own. It takes the subtitle that comes with a video or audio file and lets you replay lines, change speed without changing pitch, type what you hear and compare it word by word, and review missed sentences. What stands out is that all processing, including speech recognition, runs on your Mac with no account or network connection.

Earwright turns a video or an audio file you already have into listening practice.
Sentence by sentence Open a media file and its subtitle comes with it — the one sitting beside it, or one you pick. Each subtitle line is a section you can play on its own, repeat as many times as you like with a pause between repeats, slow to 0.75× or push to 2× without changing the pitch, or trim to just the part you want by dragging on the waveform.
Write what you hear Type the line out before you look at it. Earwright compares what you wrote with the subtitle word by word and shows what was right, what was wrong, and what you skipped — with a score you can watch move over the weeks. Bookmark the ones worth coming back to.
Practise saying it Shadowing compares the word timings of your own recording against the original: a score for words, rhythm and speed, and each word marked as on time, late or missing.
Know the words Every word in the subtitle, by how often it appears, with CEFR, JLPT, HSK and TOPIK level badges. Mark what you know, hide it, and jump to where a word first appears. Click a word in the subtitle for a dictionary — the system dictionary, or the sister app Lexwright when it is installed.
Come back to what you missed Sentences you scored badly become a review queue, scheduled the way spaced repetition schedules cards. Statistics show your streak, your time per file, and where the weak lines are.
Notes with time in them Per-file notes where [mm:ss.d] tags are put in at the playhead and clicked to jump back.
Interface in Korean, English, Japanese and traditional Chinese. No account, no upload, no network at all. Everything — including speech recognition for dictation and shadowing — runs on your Mac.
