Grandad's Cribbage

Grandad's Crib is a proper game of two-player crib: a walnut board, brass pegs and a good deck of cards. Six cards each, a hand for the crib, and first to 121 wins.

PLAY • Play the computer at Easy, Medium or Grandad, who takes some beating • Pass & Play with somebody else on one device, the screen covered between turns • Pick up where you left off; your game is saved as you go

COUNTING • Every hand counted out the traditional way: "fifteen two, fifteen four, and a pair is six" • Count your own hands if you would rather, with muggins on or off • Hear it counted aloud in a British voice • A running tally of fifteens, pairs, runs, flushes and his nobs

THE BOARD AND THE TABLE • A U-shaped board in walnut or oak, with a brass plaque at the home end • Seven painted tables: green baize, a fairway at golden hour, a misty riverbank, an oak table, a concert hall, navy leather and a city crossing • Or lay the cards on a photo of your own • Pegs that hop, a board you can open and zoom into, and the whole game read out for VoiceOver
