It is aimed at people who run downloads, renders or calls on a Mac that should stay awake while the display stays dim. Koffee keeps your Mac awake and dims the screen while you're away.

Keep-awake apps leave the display at full brightness for hours. Letting the Mac sleep kills the download, the render, the call. Koffee does neither: the Mac keeps working, the screen fades to a soft glow after a few idle minutes, and comes back the instant you move the mouse.

HOW IT WORKS • Click the cup in the menu bar. The Mac won't sleep while it's on. • After 10 minutes without input (adjustable from 1 to 60), the screen fades over a few seconds. It doesn't go black and the Mac doesn't sleep. • Touch the mouse or keyboard and brightness is back.

ALSO • Pauses automatically when another app holds the display, like a video or a call, and shows you which one. • Can stay off on battery and only work when plugged in. • Optional second stage: let the display sleep after a longer idle period while the Mac keeps running. • Two dimming methods, gamma or overlay, picked automatically or set per display. • Left click to toggle, right click for settings, or a global hotkey. • Launch at login, optional Dock icon, sounds on or off. • Your display settings are restored every time: on quit, logout, lock, sleep or when a display is unplugged.
