Motorvet: OBD2 Scanner

Motorvet turns your iPhone and a Bluetooth LE OBD2 adapter into an easy-to-understand diagnostic tool for your car. Plug the adapter into the OBD port, connect it in the app and run a Quick Scan: the app reads the standard OBD-II/EOBD data your car reports and explains it in plain language.

Reading and explaining trouble codes is free.

QUICK SCAN • Stored, pending and permanent trouble codes • Check-engine light status and emissions readiness • Freeze frame data and the VIN, when the car reports them • Live values such as coolant temperature, system voltage and fuel trims

CLEAR RESULTS Each scan ends with one of four summaries, such as "Further inspection recommended", based only on data available through the OBD port at the time of the scan. Every flagged item explains "Why this is flagged"; common generic codes get a plain-language description.

USED CAR CHECK Park the car, ask the seller for permission and start the check. Enter the dashboard mileage, add a photo and notes if you like, and see what deserves a closer look: incomplete readiness monitors, a recent diagnostic memory reset, permanent codes without an active fault and pending codes. These are signals, never proof. The on-screen review is free; the shareable PDF report needs Pro or a one-time Used Car Report.

LIVE DATA, HISTORY AND TRENDS See live values (Simple view free, Advanced view with Pro). With Pro, scans are kept per vehicle: compare scans for new, resolved and remaining codes and follow trends such as system voltage. Do not interact with the app while driving.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no ads, no tracking. Your vehicle data (VIN, codes, scans, mileage, photos and notes) stays on your iPhone.

WHAT YOU NEED • A Bluetooth LE OBD2 adapter (ELM327/STN-compatible), sold separately. Connect it in the app, not in iOS Settings. • Classic Bluetooth adapters (paired in Settings with PIN 1234), Wi-Fi and USB adapters are not supported. • A car with OBD-II/EOBD: in the EU generally petrol cars from about 2001 and diesels from about 2004, in the US from 1996. Some cars report fewer values, electric cars little or none. US cars that use only the newer SAE J1979-2 protocol are not supported yet. • Compatible adapters: https://motorvet.taleppo.com/adapters

LIMITS Standard engine and emissions data only: no ABS, airbag or transmission details, no coding or service resets; manufacturer-specific codes appear as raw codes. Clearing codes, the only write function, needs your confirmation, the engine off and the car stationary, and is never offered in a Used Car Check.

FREE AND PRO • Free: Quick Scan, code explanations, readiness, freeze frame, Simple live data, one vehicle, the Used Car Check on screen and clearing codes. • Pro (subscription, monthly or yearly): unlimited vehicles, full history, comparisons, trends, advanced live data and unlimited PDF reports, including Used Car Reports. • Used Car Report (one-time purchase): the PDF report for one Used Car Check on this iPhone. As a consumable it cannot be restored on another iPhone or after reinstalling the app, and unused report credits are lost when the app is deleted. Export the PDF to keep it.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Pro renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; renewal is charged within the last 24 hours of the period. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings; deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
