See a color you love? PaintMix turns it into paint on your palette — or the right pencil in your hand.
SUBJECT — Load any photo, rotate and crop it, and pick any pixel with the crosshair: a named color match with a ΔE accuracy score, ready to mix. Go full screen with the picture and the sampled swatch, then tap Mix this color.
PALETTE — Build the palette before you touch a brush: the fewest tubes that can mix your picture's shapes, chosen from YOUR paints. See how much of each to squeeze out (blob area = amount), then a mixing chart for every shape. Save palettes by name — one for portraits, one for landscapes — or photograph the paint already on your desk and mix from those exact colors.
PAINT — Your reference reduced to flat values or colors, ready to block in. A transfer grid, pinch-zoom, and touch any shape to find its color — or show only that color, so you paint one at a time.
YOUR CANVAS — Photograph your actual canvas and mark the grid you drew on it; that grid then carries through every view. Fade or flip between your reference and your canvas full screen, drop numbered pins on features to compare point by point, and slide, size and turn the reference until it sits right on your drawing. Then get an honest cell-by-cell review: "B2 — too warm, a touch light." Lighting is absorbed first, and unpainted canvas is never counted against you. Turn your progress shots into a short film to share.
GLAZE — Nearly done and it needs warming, cooling or pulling together? Try a glaze before you brush one: Transparent Red Oxide, Quinacridone Gold, Ultramarine, Dioxazine Violet, Raw Umber and more, previewed on your painting — everywhere, in the shadows only or in the lights — with the mix in parts of medium.
MIX — Real recipes with sliders that always total 100 and a live ΔE readout. Recipes come from your laid-out palette; when it can't reach a color, PaintMix suggests the one tube from your library that closes the gap.
PENCILS & MARKERS — Flip one switch and the studio changes: closest pencil matches, two-color layering in the right order (lighter first), and pressure guidance — a pencil held lightly is a tint of itself. Colored-pencil and marker ranges included.
MY LIBRARY — Mark the tubes, pencils, and markers you own; everything draws from your shelf, not a catalog. Round out your palette: PaintMix finds the one to three tubes that would open up the most colors you can't mix today, says why in plain words, and links to buy them. 13,000+ colors across 130 real product lines — Winsor & Newton, Golden, Liquitex, Schmincke, Daniel Smith, Prismacolor, Faber-Castell, Copic, Ohuhu and more — plus custom colors for anything we missed.
SAVE — Keep the mixes, palettes and projects that worked; reload them intact.
Built on real color science: CIEDE2000 difference, spectral Kubelka-Munk mixing (blue + yellow makes green, like actual paint), and Display P3 sampling.
