Cat Cheltui (Cât Cheltui with Romanian diacritics) is a personal budget and expense tracker made in Romania. The name asks the question the app answers: how much do I spend? That is also what the app calls itself in English: How Much I Spend.

BUILT FOR EVERYDAY LIFE In your language and in US dollars, euros or Romanian lei, with the categories you actually use: groceries, fuel, rent, utilities, subscriptions.

WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT, YOUR RECORDS STAY ON YOUR PHONE Logging expenses, income and budgets works without an internet connection. The database on your phone is encrypted, and the online account is optional: without an account, your financial records are not sent anywhere. To be clear about what does leave the phone: each time the app starts, it asks our server for a public configuration (so your IP address reaches us); each time you open it, it records a diagnostic session; and if something crashes, it sends a technical report. These reports are cleaned of personal data before they leave. The money lessons in the Academy are downloaded from our server, so the first time you open them you need a connection.

WHAT YOU CAN DO • Expenses by category and subcategory, income by category • Subscriptions and recurring expenses, with a reminder before they come due • Monthly budgets per category: the bar turns yellow as you near the limit, and you get a notification if you go over • Reports and charts for the last 3 months: by category, by month, month-to-month comparisons • Debts, loans and installments, with a record of what you have paid • Savings goals, with progress kept up to date • Planned expenses, so you know what is coming • Vacations, with their expenses grouped separately • Car costs and due dates: fuel, service, insurance, inspections • Family: see how much each member spends this month (needs a free online account) • Trash: an expense deleted by mistake can be restored • An encrypted backup of your expenses, income and budgets, in a file only you hold • Export all your data as a readable JSON file • Lock with Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode • A daily reminder to log your expenses • Light and dark themes
