Slope Minder

Slope Minder is a hand-drawn map of the mountain for planning the trip, and a way for a family or a group of friends to keep track of each other once they are on it.

THE MAP Every resort is drawn the way a good trail map is painted: the runs, the lifts, the trees, and the buildings. Unlike the paper one, you can turn it, tilt it, and look down a run before you drop in. Tap a run for its length, vertical, steepest pitch, and which way it faces. Tap a lift for its ride time and capacity. Send a run to a friend and it opens on their map. It is at its best on iPad and on iPhone Duo open.

Thousands of resorts are drawn, from the big names of North America, the Alps, and Japan to the local hill. Each one downloads when you pick it and keeps itself up to date.

THE GROUP, READY FOR OPENING DAY Start a group for the day or the week and everyone in it is on the map. The app works out what each person is doing: on a run, riding a lift, in the lift line, stopped. You see "Riding Ramcharger 8" without anyone typing it. If someone has been stopped for a while and hasn't said they're taking a break, the group gets a nudge. Watch a demo day to see it before there is snow.

YOUR DAYS Every day you ski is kept: each run and lift in order, your vertical, distance, and top speed, and the day drawn on the map, ready to share. Your iPad and Apple Vision Pro see the same days through iCloud.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN You are visible only to the people in a group you are sharing with, and only while you share. Positions are end-to-end encrypted between the group's phones, so we can't read them, and they are never stored. Browsing and skiing solo need no account.

APPLE VISION PRO Put the mountain on your coffee table. Walk around it, make it bigger or smaller, and tap a lift or a run for its facts while you plan the trip.

APPLE WATCH Tap Ski on your Watch and the day records as a workout, with your heart rate, and keeps the position on your phone accurate.
