Booray Bayou

Booray, or Bourré, is the trick-taking card game of Cajun country, and Booray Bayou deals it out on a lantern-lit porch over the bayou. You play against ten painted critters, from Beau the gator to Pearl the possum, and each has its own nerve.

Every hand you make the call. Look at your cards and the turned-up trump, then stay in or sit out. Stay in and you can swap cards from the stock, then the tricks begin: follow suit, beat the card on the table if you can, trump when you can't. Take the most tricks for the hand bonus. Take none at all and that's a booray.

• New to Booray? A guided hand teaches you the game by playing it • A points race to 15, 25 or 35: the first to the target with the lead wins • Today's deal: one deal a day, the same for everyone, with your result to share • Ten critters who play for the game, not just the hand; pick who sits at your table • Real Bourré rules: cards you can't play are dimmed, and a tap tells you why • A scorecard, a look back at the tricks, and everyone's hands after each hand • An optional read on your hand while you learn when to stay in • Your record: wins, streaks, how often you stay in, boorays, rivals and daily runs • Big cards, adjustable text size, VoiceOver and keyboard play • iPhone and iPad, in ten languages, with iCloud to carry your games between them • Plays offline, with no account and no ads

Play free with up to four critters at the table, Short and Classic games and the Quick deal house rule. The Full Porch is a one-time purchase that adds five- and six-critter tables, Long games, the Trump lock, Top trump and Cinch house rules, and extra table finishes and card backs. No subscriptions.
