WRITE IT IN BY HAND • On iPad, write letters right in the squares with your Apple Pencil — or your finger if you don't use a Pencil. Your handwriting is read on your device. • On iPhone, write each letter on a roomy writing pad, or switch to a keyboard if you'd rather type. • Scribble back and forth over a letter to erase it, just like real paper.

A WORD TO START YOU OFF Starters, Themed and Medium puzzles come with one word already printed in, so there's always a place to begin. Jumbos don't — finding your way in is part of the challenge. Every puzzle has exactly one solution.

TWO WAYS TO PLAY • Cozy: gentle help when you want it. Wrong letters are flagged once a word is filled in, and your handwriting gets a little extra help. • Challenge: no hints. Fill everything in, then press CHECK.
