DuoSpeak: Offline Translator

Speak naturally, each in your own language. DuoSpeak listens, recognizes who is speaking and instantly shows the translation to the other person.

FACE TO FACE, HANDS FREE Set the iPhone between you. Each person gets their own half of the screen, facing them, with the whole conversation in their language. For most languages, no button to hold: the app listens to both and knows who is talking. For the others, hold the mic while you speak.

ANYWHERE, EVEN OFFLINE Speech recognition and translation run on the iPhone. On a plane, abroad without data, deep in a market: it works. Prepare your languages once over Wi-Fi, and go.

NOTHING TO SET UP Your language comes from your iPhone. The other person's is recognized from their first sentence. When you arrive in a new country, DuoSpeak offers to prepare its language.

TYPE INSTEAD OF SPEAKING In a noisy place, or for an address or a name, type your sentence. Save the ones you repeat as favorites and send them with one tap. You can also hand over the phone so the other person can reply in writing.

TRANSLATE A PHOTO A menu, a sign, a document: point the camera or take a photo, and the translation appears on top. For photos and the camera, download Apple Translation for your languages.

APPLE INTELLIGENCE OR APPLE TRANSLATION When Apple Translation isn't downloaded for your languages, Apple Intelligence can translate the conversation instead, on iPhones that have it. Its translations are labeled, and a number, a time or a negation that doesn't match is marked "check this". You can choose Apple Translation only in Settings.

MADE FOR FOLDABLES Folded, the outer screen shows the conversation to the other person in their language. Unfolded, the conversation on one side, the current sentence on the other.

YOUR CONVERSATIONS STAY YOURS No account, no ads, no data collected. What you say is recognized and translated on the iPhone, without leaving the device.

Up to 25 conversation languages depending on your iPhone, including English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic. Some translate without a download on iPhones with Apple Intelligence; the others download once. Requires iOS 26 or later.
