hexdex

hexdex is a private color instrument for the physical world. Point your iPhone at a color or choose one photo, sample a precise area, and keep the value with the human context that made it worth noticing.

Build a useful color notebook:

• Aim with a precise centered reticle and read the live color card • Choose one photo from Dex and sample a color without saving the photo • Keep HEX, RGB and HSL values, with Display P3 only when genuinely available • Add names and notes, then compose and reorder saved palettes • Browse every color in Dex and explore automatic read-only Families • Check Black and White contrast from any saved color • Play five-round Match the color games with generated on-screen targets • Paint locally with colors already saved in your Dex • Export image cards, Story-sized images, project handoffs, ASE, CSS, CSV and JSON • Add broad color-family descriptions and non-color cues when useful • Switch between a visual grid and a compact numbered index

hexdex is offline and private by default. There are no accounts, ads, analytics, tracking or subscriptions. Camera images and selected photos are not retained.

Camera and lighting conditions affect sampled color. hexdex is a practical visual reference, not a laboratory color-measurement device.
