Summit Ride

THE REAL ROAD, IN THE GAME Pick a real route, from anywhere to anywhere. Summit Ride rebuilds it in its world with striking fidelity: the bends and straights are those of the real road, the climbs and descents follow the real heights of the terrain, and around you is the real landscape: woods, meadows, lakes, bridges, houses and the entry signs of the villages. Type a start and a destination and choose among the roads shown on the satellite map, or load a Google Maps route. The pass near home, the road to your holidays, the Sunday loop: they become stages to ride.

Summit Ride is a motorcycle riding game: no account, no ads, no in-app purchases.

Five routes open one after the other. Start on Passo del Vento, seven kilometres of mountain hairpins, climb and descent, and beat the time limit to unlock Citta Bassa, sunset avenues with crossings and evening traffic. Next comes Val Scura, a descent through tunnels and over a viaduct, then Borgo Vecchio, a country road through three old stone hamlets, and finally the winter pass, icy hairpins with a stretch of road under packed snow.

HOW YOU RIDE The throttle is a twist grip: rest a finger and drag up to open it, down to close, brake and reverse. Steering works the same way, or tilt your phone: the gyroscope is on from the start.

SIX BIKES, ALL DIFFERENT Six full-size cruisers, each with its own thrust, grip and top speed. In the garage you can repaint bodywork, pinstripes and seat from ten colours, and the work stays saved.

STYLE POINTS Overtakes, near misses, clean stretches, deep lean angles and wheelies build a combo chain and a multiplier up to x8. Records are kept per route and difficulty, and you can race your own ghost.

RIDE TOGETHER Race two to four riders in real time through Game Center, on iPhone, iPad or Mac, with a live ranking and each rider's name above their bike. Game Center leaderboards keep the best times and scores.

HOW HARD YOU WANT IT Three difficulty levels change what you meet on the road: rival bikes, oncoming cars, potholes and gusts of side wind. The twin-cylinder engine is synthesised note by note, not a recorded sample.

REAL ROADS Lago del Salto is the real road round the lake, with the real ground heights. And you can bring your own routes: a KML/KMZ from Google My Maps or a GPX, and the game builds the road and the landscape with the real elevations.
