Facetide UV Guides

Your next texture starts with a clear guide.

Facetide turns the existing UVs in a Wavefront OBJ into a portable painting handoff. Select a numbered UV island and see the corresponding surface on the model. Orbit the model, inspect a checker or your PNG/JPEG texture, then save guides through Files or the native share sheet.

WHAT YOU GET • Transparent PNG guides at 1024 or 2048 pixels and scalable SVG. • All-island or selected-island output, boundary or triangle lines, three line widths and optional island numbers. • Checker PNG, island bounds/triangle/area CSV, unchanged original OBJ, a source-backed JSON project and a Readme. • Local projects with rename, search, duplicate and recoverable Trash. JSON restores source, normalized texture and settings as a new project. • Linked atlas/model workspace on iPad, with separate atlas and model views on iPhone.

PAY ONCE All tools are included. No subscription, in-app purchase, ads, account or analytics. Your imported files stay on this device unless you choose to share them. The optional original folded-lantern study lets you try the whole workflow without your own file.

CHECK YOUR FILE FIRST This is an existing-UV guide tool. It does not unwrap, edit or pack UVs, detect overlap, bake materials, read MTL/PBR assets, repair meshes or support UDIM. It is not a general 3D editor.

Use a UTF-8 polygon-only OBJ up to 4 MiB, 100,000 positions/UV coordinates and 20,000 triangles after triangulation. Faces must be triangles or planar convex quads. Every face corner needs an existing UV in the unit 0–1 tile. Negative indices are supported. Preview normals are recalculated; material names are labels only. Connectivity uses shared vertex indices with matching UV endpoints.

One PNG or JPEG texture up to 8 MiB / 24 megapixels is normalized to at most 2048 pixels. Preview is an uncalibrated diffuse view. Guides retain the whole unit tile, including selected-only guides, with V flipped for image coordinates. CSV area is summed triangle UV area, not unique coverage; overlapping UVs remain overlapping.

Store up to 24 projects, including Trash. Confirm permanent deletion from Trash to free a slot; export a backup first. Project JSON backups must be at most 16 MiB. Export backups outside the app before uninstalling. Bring your own materials and verify the handoff in your painting or 3D editor.
